Semperfli Dry Fly Polyyarn is a high-quality material known for its durability and wide range of colors, including both solid and mottled variants. Thanks to this versatility, it can easily be used to create very natural imitations across the full polyyarn range. The material can also be easily tapered to a fine point by applying heat, which makes it very accessible for both beginner and experienced tiers.

With a specific gravity of 0,91 g/cm³, this polypropylene yarn is lighter than water. As a result, it stays afloat, which makes it particularly suitable for dry flies. Although many companies claim to use polypropylene yarns, the authenticity is easy to test at home: cut off a piece of about 25 mm, knead it together between your fingers and drop it into a glass of water. Genuine polypropylene yarn briefly sinks below the surface before rising back up again, and it will continue to float even after a day.

Because of the loose, fibrous structure of Dry Fly Polyyarn, air is trapped inside, which improves both the buoyancy and the natural appearance of your flies. Thanks to the blended coloration, it closely matches the irregular color patterns of natural insects. And it floats like a cork.

Hans van Klinken says that Dry Fly Polyyarn is perfect for the thorax section of Klinkhammers, but also for e.g. Wulffs, Elk Hair Caddis, hoppers, humpies and other similar floating flies.

Semperfli Dry Fly Polyyarn is therefore extremely well suited for bodies on dry flies or for making loose, pre-formed bodies.
