Pure Silk from Semperfli is a twisted, 100% pure silk thread specially developed for traditional fly patterns such as spiders and Clyde-style flies. Thanks to its classic appearance and historically matched colours, it is a favourite among enthusiasts of traditional fly fishing.
Twisted and usable flat
Pure Silk is supplied as a twisted thread, which makes it extra strong and durable compared to classic silk threads. If you want to use the thread flat, you can simply untwist it by turning the spool in the bobbin holder in the opposite direction.
This dual-purpose capability makes Pure Silk particularly versatile.
Historical colours, modern production
Pure Silk has been developed to match as closely as possible the historical colours of pure silk as described in the classic work Brook & River Trouting by Edmonds & Lee. Semperfli owns an original edition of this book and, in cooperation with the Pro Team, has carefully compared the colours with the original flies and flosses.
The colour numbers (#) represent an approximation of the original Edmonds & Lee colours, allowing you to reproduce authentic patterns as faithfully as possible.
